The name of April derives from the Latin word Aprillis and the verb aperire, which means to open. It’s the month during which the weather “opens up” and spring arrives. April 1st is best known as April Fool’s Day when people say white lies for fun.
This tradition came to Greece from Europe and was adapted to the Greek customs. In some areas people think that the person who manages to fool someone will be lucky throughout the year, in other areas it is believed that the person who gets fooled will have a good harvest.
Have a nice month!!
